Michael Cleary
Guitar Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Michael began playing the piano at 8 years of age, playing by ear. He then worked with a teacher whose teaching ethos made lessons very enjoyable. With his teacher moving away, Michael attended another music school, which was very heavily focused on theory. He gave up lessons because of this when he was 11, as there was no fun element to his lessons now.

Michael continued to play throughout secondary school. It was around the age of 15 he decided to teach himself guitar as he took a liking to more rock and indie types of music. He played for 3 years until he had his first guitar lesson in BIMM, where he studied. Here he experienced real professional scenarios such as, working within studios, playing for venues such as Wheelan's, the Button Factory and Sín é, as well as worked for BIMM as a house band musician for student exams. Michael now currently works within the wedding industry both as a solo act and as an instrumentalist in a band.

Today Michael enjoys teaching all ages, but particularly beginners. His experience of having to teach himself for the majority of his music life drives him to help students learn in a way where it is both enjoyable and effective.

Born into a family of passionate instrumentalists, music has always been at the core of everything she does. From joining choirs at school to picking up the guitar and writing songs as a solo artist.

During her time studying vocals at BIMM Dublin, Hannah started her first collaborative project called Toygirl where she gained valuable experience writing, recording, and performing with others. She graduated with honors in 2021.

Hannah is currently producing under a new alias, SPOOKLET, which is an electronic solo project that she started in August of 2022. She believes that music is ever-evolving which is why she finds it so fascinating; music grows alongside you and can teach us so much about ourselves as individuals.

“To be creative is to throw perfection out of the window and open yourself up to exploration and self-discovery. There is no such thing as a mistake when being creative, once you understand that, the world is your oyster!”

Michael McCarthy
Drum Teacher
Having worked extensively as a drummer in Dublin for the past five years and recently graduating from DCU's jazz and contemprorary music programme, Michael has considerable experience both with the technical and rudimental aspects of drumming as well as how to put them into practice in a collaborative setting.

Michael's focus when teaching is to identify what students are passionate about and use this as a jumping off point to explore things like technique, movement, group collaboration and listening. Keeping what student's love about music at the core of the lessons is the most important thing to Michael when working with students.

What I like about the program is that my kids LOVE it!

This is so different from the music lessons that existed when I was a kid. These kids are actually making music and learning to play as a band. The performances are so impressive, and watching the kids gain confidence and express themselves on stage is priceless.

The structure around how kids learn is amazing.

Taking lessons to learn an instrument is one thing, but learning how to be a part of a band is on another level. These kids are learning how to communicate, respect people and their opinions, and how to be accountable for themselves. It’s more than just music here.

It's the best music program in the city.

Dedicated instructors and staff, vibrant atmosphere, and most importantly, it's fun! My 8-year-old has grown leaps and bounds in skill and personal confidence. If you're thinking about checking it out, don't wait, just do it!

The kids have a great time while learning to play.

Lifelong skills and relationships are born here. The staff shares their passion for music and are very professional and accommodating. Wish I had this type of exposure to music when I was growing up!
